On May 29, 2026, the GIIS KL Field transformed into a vibrant hub of culture and spirituality as the school community gathered for a meaningful Wesak Day Assembly. Commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing into Nirvana of Gautama Buddha, the event was a beautiful reflection of peace, compassion, kindness, and harmony. The celebration brought together students and teachers from all classes across both the CBSE and Cambridge sections, highlighting the school’s rich cultural and spiritual diversity.

The assembly was thoughtfully aligned with the GIIS 9 Gems framework, specifically focusing on Gem 4 (Personality Development) and Gem 9 (Skill Development). Furthermore, the event underscored global responsibilities by highlighting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

The morning’s proceedings commenced solemnly with the Malaysian National Anthem, followed by the school prayer led by a student. The energetic student emcees then took the stage to introduce the profound significance of Wesak Day, educating their peers on the three pivotal milestones in the life of Gautama Buddha.

Following the introduction, the audience was treated to a series of enthusiastic cultural performances. Students from Grades 6 to 8 delivered a melodious musical presentation titled "Budu Guna Gee," which beautifully conveyed messages of devotion and gratitude. The energy remained high as the stage came alive with graceful dance performances by the Kindergarten students, Cambridge Grade 6, and CBSE Class 6. Through rhythm, expression, and synchronized movement, the young dancers beautifully portrayed the universal values of peace, compassion, unity, and kindness.

The inspiring assembly concluded with an address by the Principal, Ms. Dipti Joshna who shared valuable insights and encouraged the student body to actively practice Buddha’s teachings of mindfulness and empathy in their daily lives. Ultimately, the Wesak Day Assembly proved to be a memorable and enriching experience that successfully strengthened cultural understanding and promoted universal values across the entire school.
